The Green Schools programme in the school promotes environmental awareness, sustainability, and active student participation in climate action. The Green Schools committee guides students in projects related to recycling, waste reduction, biodiversity, energy conservation, and whole-school environmental initiatives.
The aim is to build a school community that values and practises sustainable living.
Global Citizenship Education develops students’ understanding of global issues such as human rights, sustainability, social justice, climate change and interconnectedness.
The focus is on helping young people recognise their role in a global community and empowering them to think critically, act responsibly, and contribute positively to society both locally and internationally.
Both the Junior and Senior Student Councils ensure that students have a strong voice in school life. This includes supporting student representatives as they share ideas, take part in decision-making, and lead positive initiatives within the school.
The councils provide valuable opportunities for leadership, teamwork, and active involvement in shaping the school community.
The coordination of National Campaigns allows students to engage with important social, cultural, and wellbeing initiatives taking place across the country.
Through participation in these campaigns, students gain awareness of national issues and contribute to events that promote inclusion, equality, health, and community spirit.
The Cairdeas Leaders Programme supports the transition of incoming First Year students by pairing them with trained senior student mentors. Cairdeas Leaders help new students settle into school life, build confidence, and feel welcomed.
This programme strengthens the sense of community within the school and encourages older students to act as positive role models.
Ceannaireacht celebrates student leadership across academia, co-curricular involvement, and the core values that define life at Coláiste Bhaile Chláir.
