Coláiste Bhaile Chláir is delighted to announce the appointment of Mr Eoghan O’Ceallaigh as Deputy Principal. Eoghan joins the management team of Deputy Principals Ms Emma Ryan & Ms Claire Kilroy and Principal Mr Alan Mongey as the school enters its 6th year of existence.

 

Originally for Ennis, Co. Clare, Eoghan has worked at Coláiste Bhaile Chláir for the past 5 years as an Irish Teacher and an Assistant Principal and Year Head for the past 3 years. Eoghan began his career as a Structural Engineer having qualified from NUI Galway in 2001 and worked on largescale projects countrywide. His ‘grá don Ghaeilge’ made him return to college where he qualified as an Irish Teacher and he began his first teaching post as an Irish teacher at Villers School, Limerick where he taught for 5 years before joining Coláiste Bhaile Cháir. His expertise include a Post-Graduate Diploma in Education Leadership from UCD and is a Qualified Mediator with the Mediators Institute of Ireland.

 

Eoghan has always been passionate about teaching and learning, instilling a love for his subject areas, Irish, Maths and STEM amongst his students. He also has a keen interest in technology in the classroom and has worked with Microsoft Ireland in the past. Excellence in Teaching and Learning, developing professional development personally and on a whole-school level have been keen interests to Eoghan. He has lead a team of Teachers from Coláiste Bhaile Chláir on an Erasmus+ project to observe teaching practices in Mora, Sweden in 2017.

 

Sport plays an important role in Eoghan’s life. He has an interest in all sports and played both hurling and football with Doora-Barefield. Nowadays, cycling and training for triathlons are his new goals and he promises that the students and parents will see him cycling to school in the near future as part of his new training plan. He has been involved and chaired many Irish Language committees and the Irish Heart Foundation in the past. He has a love for the Irish language and speaks Irish at home with his two little boys, Rían and Joe and his wife Alma.
